Always keep your tail away from direct sunlight and store it in a cool dry place. Real fur will begin to fall out if it’s exposed to prolonged heat. However, never place your tail in the freezer.

Also, when storing your tail make sure it has room to breathe and isn’t crushed by other objects. Your tail prefers circulation and the leather can dry if stored in a bag. In addition, fur doesn’t like friction and the it may be damaged if stored in a drawer. Simply put, fur loves space.

Also, don’t use chemicals or perfumes on your tail. The natural fur will react adversely to it. Typically scent from using perfumes, cedar from a chest or mothballs will lock into your fur forever. If your tail accidentally gets wet, there’s no need to panic. Most tails handle snow and light rain with ease in nature. If it becomes wet, simply shake it out and hang to dry in a well-ventilated room. Do not use a hair dryer to speed up the process; the heat will damage your fur. After it dries completely, shake it out again. Do not comb or brush your tail. Instead, it can be smoothed with your hand.

If your tail happens to need spot cleaning, use a damp soft rag. Pat the area rather than stroking it to avoid removing guard hairs; then hang to dry.  

If your tail loses its shine and becomes dull looking, it can be brought back naturally by rolling it in oat bran or cornmeal. After allowing it to soak up the dirt and grime, gently shake out the cornmeal or bran. If any remains, shake again to loosen and fluff your tail.

Keep in mind, the Crystal Minx Tail should be cleaned only by a fur professional. 

 Also, when playing or removing your plug, never pull on the tail. Rather grip the plug on the inner side of its base when removing.
